FAQs

How does a Pocket Rocket work faster than a gel?
The texture of a Pocket Rocket gradually melts in the mouth, which allows the glucose and active ingredients to be mainly absorbed through the buccal mucosa (gums and inside of the cheeks) into the bloodstream, by passing the stomach. This means the Pocket Rocket delivers energy to the muscles more quickly and without stomach upset.

What's the difference between Pocket Rockets and energy gels?
Pocket Rockets are less messy and more convenient than energy gels, with the four pieces meaning you can dose energy as and when needed, which can reduce and avoid GI distress. Pocket Rockets can also work more quickly than gels as some glucose is absorbed through the gums, which consequently can aid stomach comfort whilst consuming energy on the go.

What's the difference between Pocket Rockets and VOOM Powr Plant Endurance Bars?
Pocket Rockets are all about speed of energy delivery and therefore use simple carbs (sugars) to quickly get glucose to the muscles. Powr Plant bars offer some simple sugars but in addition they contain slower release carbs for more sustained energy provision making them ideal for longer endurance challenges. The Powr Plants also aim to improve health and performance by aiding blood flow. This is possible thanks to nitrates naturally occurring in the freeze-dried beetroot in the bars.

What is the daily recommended intake of Beta alanine for sports performance?
Research suggests a daily intake of 4-6g of beta alanine is optimal for boosting muscle carnosine levels and therefore maximising the lactic-buffering capacity within the muscles with a minimum of a 4 week supplementation period recommended. Studies also found that on average there was a more pronounced effect in older individuals whose muscle carnosine tends to decrease slightly with age. The Beta Blast Rocket contains 2g of beta alanine per bar.

Why do Pocket Rockets contain electrolytes?
Consuming electrolytes during exercise can replace salts lost in sweat during exercise. For this reason the Electro Energy bar, and some of the best energy gels available, contain electrolytes. Salts are lost more quickly at higher sweat rates so electrolyte energy bars become even more important when training or competing in hotter climates.
