The ever-popular Langdale Christmas Pudding 10km kick-started the festive period in the Lakes on Saturday 15th December. Almost 600 runners toed the start line outside the Old Dungeon Ghyll Hotel in Great Langdale ready to tackle the undulating but scenic course.
With festive fancy-dress encouraged the spirit was high, with an excited buzz of anticipation as the race got underway at ten past 12, just after the Langdale bus had gone through! There were some strong performances across the board, with everyone earning their Christmas Pudding as they crossed the finish line, but more importantly, there were some phenomenal efforts on the fancy dress front!

The overall win was taken by Helm Hill’s Sam Burnstone, defending his title from 2023 in a strong time of 34:46. Perhaps the performance of the day was from female race winner Scout Adkin (Ambleside AC) off the back of her strong season on the Mountain Running World Cup series. Scout’s time of 35:28, on a tough course, placed her second overall, edging out Barney Plummer and Beau Smith who completed the men’s podium. In the women’s race Emily Simpson and Penny Butler took second and third positions respectively. Full results can be seen here.
